Queens Hospital Center provides superior mental healthcare. You'll find comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment services for children, adolescents and adults. We specialize in providing services to children and adults facing challenges from emotional problems to mental illness, leading them from diagnosis and treatment through the rehabilitation process.

From crisis conditions such as detoxification to outpatient and group therapy, our caring and compassionate staff works around the clock to ensure the mental well-being of each patient.

The psychiatric services we offer include:

  • Center for Child Development. A highly specialized resource for children with particular problems.
  • Partial Hospitalization Program. Intensive, acute-care, psychiatric treatment on an outpatient basis; suitable for patients who have been hospitalized and no longer need to be in an inpatient setting.
  • Adolescent Day Treatment Program. Intended for youngsters with a designated mental illness diagnosis; intensive limited-term program designed to provide structured, medically supervised treatment and support as an alternative to patient care.
  • Continuing Day Treatment Program. Serves an adult outpatient psychiatric population and provides structured activities in a milieu environment; modalities of treatment include group therapy, family therapy, activity therapy, recreational activities, prevocational assessment and vocational referral.
  • Child and Adolescent Program. A multi-disciplinary service providing diagnostic and treatment services for children, adolescents and their families; accommodates young people from pre-school through high-school age.
    Neighborhood Help Center. Located off campus in the South Jamaica Multi-Service Center, NHC provides outpatient services to people six years and older who live in the southeastern Queens catchment area.
  • Adult Mental Health Clinic. A psychiatric treatment program for providing consistent long-term care to patients 18 years and older who have a mental health diagnosis to prevent hospitalization or re-hospitalization.
  • Inpatient Services. Acute hospitalization wards designed for the treatment of patients whose behavior evidences the likelihood of result in serious harm to themselves or others; virtually all currently recognized treatment modalities are available.
  • Psychiatric Emergency Room. Provides quality care in a timely manner, ensuring that (where feasible) patients do not remain there for more than 24 hours.
  • Chemical Dependency Service. Our holistic approach to treatment offers a full range of chemical dependency services to individuals 18 and older:
    Inpatient Services. Offers complete medical detoxification for alcohol and drug dependency; includes individual and group counseling and referral for ongoing services.
  • Outpatient Services. The Chemical Dependency Clinic offers a comprehensive alcohol and drug treatment program that incorporates individual, group, and family counseling; ambulatory detoxification; acupuncture services; relapse prevention services; an evening clinic; and a day rehabilitation component.
  • Driving While Intoxicated (D.W.I.) Program. Lasting 14 to 20 weeks, it consists of an evaluation and assessment as well as individual and group counseling.
  • Ryan White Harm Reduction/Relapse Prevention Program. Includes H.I.V. education, alcohol and drug education, individual and group counseling, and acupuncture.
  • It's Never Too Late. Chemical dependency treatment for those 55 years and older is a specialized component of our chemical dependency service featuring individual, group, and family counseling; alcoholism and drug education; acupuncture; activities therapy and lunch.
