| The
program serves as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization and
helps to reintegrate former hospitalized patients into the community.
Patients who have a psychiatric diagnosis and can benefit from a structured
treatment setting on a daily basis are evaluated and accepted for
admission. Each patient is assessed by a psychiatrist, activity therapist and primary therapist (social worker, nurse or psychologist). Each patient receives individual therapy from their primary therapist who works with a psychiatrist, but the majority of treatment is in group settings. The treatment plan includes group activities that are selected to meet the needs of the patient. Several groups focus on vocational needs; educational needs; improving communication; reviewing current events; improving concentration through arts and crafts. Social isolation is addressed through community meetings and special trips. |
