Burn
Center
Burn victims from throughout the greater New
York area are treated at the Jacobi Burn Unit, one of only three
Regional Burn Centers in all of New York City. Established in 1963,
it is well-known for more than 30 years of excellence in clinical
research and teaching, and as a pioneer in employing early surgical
intervention to preserve skin and minimize infection and injury.
The hospital offers comprehensive burn treatment in both
inpatient and
outpatient burn care programs.
Regional
Hyperbaric Center
Fire
victims and others suffering from oxygen deprivation, including
New York City's firefighters, are brought to Jacobi's state-of-the-art
Hyperbaric Center, which is home to the tri-state area's only multiperson
hyperbaric chamber. Established in 1983, the
Hyperbaric Center
continues to treat more than 200 emergency
patients each year for smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning,
diving accidents and related life-threatening injuries. The center
also offers a complete array of elective hyperbaric oxygen therapy
to combat infection and promote wound healing.
Regional
Snakebite Treatment Center
As
the Regional Snakebite Treatment Center, Jacobi treats snakebite
victims from the entire New York City and tri-state area. Treatment
is provided in cooperation with the herpetology staff of the nearby
Bronx Zoo. Our snakebite treatment program is part of our Level
I Trauma Center.
Orthopaedic
Trauma Surgery
This program specializes in treating patients
with traumatic joint injuries – using the latest orthopaedic
techniques. New implant devices enable trauma patients with hip
fractures and thigh, elbow and knee injuries to get up and around
faster, eliminating weeks in traction. In the calendar year 2000,
our orthopaedic trauma surgical staff treated over 1,000 trauma
patients. In addition to Trauma
Surgery, our orthopaedic specialities
include: Pediatric
Orthopaedics, and Sports
Medicine/Joint Reconstruction.
Neurosurgery
Jacobi
Neurosurgery is an academic service that provides comprehensive neurosurgical
care in association with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. We
have separate clinics dedicated to pituitary tumors, pediatric neurosurgery,
and peripheral nerve disorders. We offer a minimally invasive spine
surgery program that includes endoscopic spinal fusion and minimally
invasive discectomy.
Community Physician Inpatient Billing Record
The Community Physician Inpatient Billing Record is for use by physicians who are credentialed at the North Bronx Healthcare Network as Attending-Community Physicians and who render care to their own patients when they are admitted to either Jacobi or North Central Bronx Hospital.
