Tuberculosis, often known as TB, affects an estimated 900 New Yorkers each year. Despite a reduction of more than 75% since the 1990s, New York City’s TB rate is still more than double the national rate. TB is a disease that can damage a person's lungs or other parts of the body and can cause serious illness. In almost all instances, with modern medicine tuberculosis can be cured.
Locate an HHC hospital or diagnostic and treatment center near you, all of which provide tuberculosis testing and treatment.
Visit the NYC Health Department web site at nyc.gov/health for more information about TB.
