Clinical Trials

HHC occupies a prime place when it comes to offering patients the opportunity to take part in clinical trials. Not only are HHC facilities affiliated with physicians from leading medical schools but, as the largest municipal healthcare provider in the U.S., HHC is in a unique position to test important new medical treatments with diverse populations.

A clinical trial - also called clinical research - is a study of human volunteers to answer specific health questions. Patients who choose to participate in clinical trials can be more involved in their own healthcare decisions, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and help others by contributing to medical research.

HHC patients benefit from the cutting-edge treatment they receive when cared for by physicians who are attuned to the latest scientific findings about a disease. Patients may also have the chance to participate in "expanded access" trials, which are designed to make promising products available as early in the drug evaluation process as possible to patients whose medical condition affords them limited therapeutic options.

HHC is affiliated with such distinguished research partners as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University; Columbia University, Health Sciences, College of Physicians and Surgeons; Weill Medical College of Cornell University; Maimonides Medical Center; Mt. Sinai School of Medicine; New York Medical College; New York University School of Medicine and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
