HHC facilities maintain a strong focus on the health of children and teenagers. HHC Child Health clinics treat all New York children from birth to age 21. HHC encourages parents not to wait for an emergency to get healthcare for their child or teenager. HHC child health clinics provide all the medical attention children need to stay healthy, including immunizations, physicals and treatment for just about everything from the common cold to more serious conditions, like asthma. Families also have access to specialists outside of the center, including a wide range of pediatric subspecialists.
HHC pediatricians recognize that adolescents have different needs than younger children. Older children are assessed for possible health risks from tobacco, alcohol and/or drug use, sexual activity or even emotional stresses from school, work or just growing up. Teens can also be seen in our adolescent health centers, in our hospitals as well as our diagnostic and treatment centers, where reproductive and adolescent medicine is practiced. Child health clinics are staffed by pediatricians and nurses who speak the languages of the communities they serve. Clinics are conveniently located throughout the city and in many public housing buildings.
