City Public Hospitals Redesign Website

New features make it easier for patients, community health providers to access health information, specialty services

New York City – The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) today announced the launch of its newly redesigned website dedicated to making it easier for city residents and community physicians to find specialty care medical services and get the latest news about HHC’s initiatives to improve quality of care and patient safety. The website address remains nyc.gov/hhc.

“New Yorkers are just a mouse-click away from affordable healthcare,” said HHC President Alan D. Aviles. “The redesigned website is a useful and user-friendly tool that showcases our efforts to re-define healthcare delivery and provide in-depth information about our hospitals and health centers with the goal of making them more accessible.”

The streamlined website has greater functionality and features easy-to-navigate sections such as:

  • Specialty Services A – Z and Centers of Excellence, where patients and community physicians can find detailed information about the medical and mental health services HHC provides and can locate HHC facilities offering that specialty;
  • Strategic Priorities, where site visitors can review the Corporation’s patient safety and quality initiatives, efforts to increase access to healthcare and reduce disparities and get updates on HHC’s modernization program.
  • What’s New, featuring links to the latest HHC news and public events schedule; and
  • En español, providing basic information for Hispanic New Yorkers.

The site’s enhanced interactivity also allows visitors to sign up for the HHC monthly electronic newsletter, HHC Today, and access employment and contracting opportunities.

The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), the largest municipal hospital and health care system in the country, is a $4.9 billion public benefit corporation that serves 1.3 million New Yorkers every year and nearly 400,000 who are uninsured. HHC provides medical, mental health and substance abuse services through its 11 acute care hospitals, four skilled nursing facilities, six large diagnostic and treatment centers and more than 80 community based health centers.
