As part of HHC's Take Care New York October campaign to promote preventive health screenings, HHC hosted a screening and education pavilion at the annual WBLS Radio Circle of Sisters Expo for Women of Color, at the Jacob Javits Center, October 11-12. More than 1,000 individuals checked their blood pressure, BMI, HIV status, got flu shots or were screened for depression. More than 7,000 received information and counseling about patient safety, controlling diabetes, cancer prevention and smoking cessation.
Dozens of HHC staff from every facility, including MetroPlus and HHC's Health and Home Care, volunteered for the event. For more information about Take Care New York month and a schedule of activities in every borough, visit the HHC web site at nyc.gov/hhc.
