New York public hospitals in Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn partnered with the American Lung Association and the New York City Parks Department this year to offer a terrific summer experience to 45 youngsters with asthma. The special program offered children swimming, games, arts and crafts, while specially-trained counselors and medical staff taught them about asthma medications, how to avoid asthma triggers, and other important asthma management techniques. The children also learned about the importance of physical exercise and proper nutrition.
