HHC President Alan D. Aviles was named to the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA) at the organization’s executive session last month. Aviles joins a group of 27 members of this policy-making body with ultimate authority for the governance and management of its direction and finances. Aviles will serve a two year term on the AHA Board.
The American Hospital Association represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Close to 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 40,000 individual members come together to form the AHA. Through their representation and advocacy activities, AHA ensures that members' perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates, and judicial matters. Founded in 1898, the AHA also provides continuing education for health care leaders and is a rich source of information on health care issues and trends.
