October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and HHC will once again take its place in the forefront of the fight against cancer by serving as a flagship sponsor of the American Cancer Society's (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks for the ninth consecutive year. Hundreds of HHC staff will wear their pink and walk at events in each borough on Sunday, October 16th to support patients, friends, and family members who are living with cancer or whose cancer experience they have shared.
HHC staff will walk and raise thousands of dollars that support the ACS breast cancer programs for research, 24-hour breast cancer information hotline, patient navigation, free lodging, survivor support, advocacy, peer counseling, rides to treatment and much more. Help HHC turn green into pink and join an HHC team in any of the five boroughs. Visit cancer.org/stridesonline for more information. Last year, HHC walkers turned out in large numbers, and raised more than $215,000, all of which stays in New York City to help patients, family members and friends in their struggle.
