This October, STAT! For New York City’s Public Hospitals! will return and build on last year’s popular inaugural series. Presented by HHC and the Fund for HHC, STAT! 2011 is a week-long series of music and entertainment events in the five boroughs to again provide an opportunity to support and raise awareness about the essential services that HHC provides, to celebrate our staff and the communities we serve, and to help meet funding needs. STAT! 2011 will take place from October 23 to 30, with a kick-off Gala benefit launch in the Bellevue Hospital atrium on Tuesday, October 18.
The STAT! 2011 line-up will include a tribute to George Clinton, the “Godfather of Funk,” at the Apollo Theater in Harlem; a gospel performance in Brooklyn featuring one of today’s most exciting young gospel performers; and a evening at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx honoring the pioneers of old-school, among them Doug E. Fresh, Marley Marl, and DJ Kool Herc. There will also be a Glee-themed show for kids in Queens, and a Halloween celebration – Ghosts of Snug Harbor – on Staten Island.
