More than 150 men and people who care about them formed a human chain outside Kings County Hospital Center on Clarkson Avenue in Brooklyn recently to bring attention to men’s health issues as part of the hospital’s “Man Up” campaign. Kings County will host a men’s health forum on June 14 and other HHC hospitals and clinics will hold health events throughout the month to offer free screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, prostate cancer and depression, and to urge men to see the doctor regularly.
Healthcare providers say men tend to delay going to the doctor until they are seriously ill. They recommend that men visit the doctor regularly, practice healthy eating and exercise for a healthy life. Visit the HHC website to find an HHC hospital or health center near you and schedule an appointment.
