| HHC President Alan Aviles and Dr. Maurice Wright
|
There are nearly 4,000 physicians who each day dedicate their careers to advancing the mission of the NYC public hospitals. This year, in recognition of National Doctors’ Day, HHC honored a select group for their expertise and dedication to providing the highest quality healthcare to New Yorkers. These individuals vary in specialties, age, education, and years of service and represent the ethnic diversity of HHC patients.
During the ceremony at Metropolitan Hospital’s Draper Hall, HHC President Alan D. Aviles presented two special recognitions: Dr. Maurice Wright, Medical Director at Harlem Hospital Center, received the President’s Award for his strong and steady leadership during challenging times, and Dr. Norma Keller, Chief of Cardiology at Bellevue Hospital, received the Excellence Award for her pioneering use of hypothermia for heart attack victims and her advocacy for heart health for women.
