With the start of flu season, HHC is urging all New Yorkers to protect themselves against illness by getting a flu shot. HHC is making flu vaccines available at all of its hospitals and community health centers at little or no cost. This year’s vaccine also protects against H1N1, the flu virus that caused concern last year, so only one shot is needed.
Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone over 6 months old, especially pregnant women and people who have compromised immune systems or chronic conditions such as heart disease or diabetes.
Flu shots are available to New Yorkers regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. To find an HHC facility near you, call 311 or visit www.nyc.gov/hhc.
