Marie-Alice Duchatelier and daughter Khloe-Armelda Boyer

While other New Yorkers welcomed in 2010 with parties and revelry, mothers-to-be at every NYC public hospital were busy in the final stages of labor. Alice Duchatelier gave birth at Kings County Hospital to one of the first HHC babies of the New Year – an 8lbs., 5 oz. girl named Khloe-Armelda – at 1:01 a.m.  HHC babies took their time this year -- the first was a girl born at Harlem Hospital at 12:52 a.m., almost an hour into the New Year and nearly 52 minutes after the city’s first baby was born 18 seconds after midnight. At Woodhull Hospital, the first baby, a 7 lbs., 7 oz. boy, didn’t arrive until 4:49 p.m.

HHC delivers more than 23,000 babies every year. All HHC hospitals provide expert labor and delivery services, and mothers are cared for by experienced medical teams in cheerful, modern birthing centers.
