When young Damian Jeremiah made his entrance into the world at Elmhurst Hospital on December 31st, he was the last baby born at the hospital in 2008 -- qualifying his proud mother, Diana Londono for an immediate tax deduction for the entire year. H & R Block, the tax return preparation company, featured the last babies born in major area hospitals, while notifying taxpayers of the various deductions that their new arrivals could provide. The 6 lb. 11 oz. baby was one of more than 4,000 babies born at Elmhurst Hospital in 2008 - and 66 babies born at HHC hospitals on December 31. Nearly one out of every four babies born in New York City each year -- more than 23,000 -- are born in the city's public hospitals. HHC hospitals offer excellent pre-natal care, state-of-the-art delivery services, and top quality care for newborns. For more information, visit nyc.gov/hhc.
