Morrisania Diagnostic and Treatment Center serves the South Bronx through a two-pronged approach: providing treatment to those who need it, while at the same time emphasizing prevention. Morrisania runs one of the oldest School Health Programs in New York City and serves four schools through five school-based clinics. These clinics ensure access to free primary medical, dental and mental health care to children who have unmet health needs.
When it comes to helping children, Morrisania takes a multi-disciplinary approach. Morrisania makes available a variety of targeted mental health services for children, adolescents and adults. Its Child Developmental Clinic, certified by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation, provides diagnostic evaluation and treatment for children from birth to 18 years of age. Morrisania's Women's Health Services attends to a wide variety of primary care services for women.
Morrisania is a good and caring neighbor. Each summer, through the New York City Summer Youth Program, 25 to 30 teens have the opportunity to perform clerical tasks at the Center—a great way for young people to learn about a career in the healthcare profession.
