HHC Connectx in
collaboration with the Health and Hospitals Corporation’s (HHC) Clinical
Information Systems department (CIS) is rolling out HHCAdvantage. HHCAdvantage
is a web-based application that facilitates effective management and tracking of
the patient referral process by enhancing communication between HHC hospital
referral offices and primary care providers in the community.
The phased roll out, which began in December, has generated enormous
enthusiasm from the HHC hospitals. Building on the success of a previous version
of the application that was used at HHC’s Queens Hospitals for over 10 years,
HHC Connectx further developed and expanded the use of the application to all
HHC hospitals.
“HHCAdvantage makes it possible for referring providers to receive a high
level of service,” states HHC Connectx’s, Irene Kaufmann, “Patients do not get
lost in the system and referring providers get the clinical feedback they
require to deliver care.”
For the first time, users will be able to send and receive clinical referral
information through the automated process enabling a seamless exchange. Already
the benefits of this easy to use service are evident in the faster and more
responsive care HHC is able to provide its patients. With this application’s
rollout to community providers, it is expected that the overall ease,
efficiency, and access to care for patients will improve.
Currently, there are over 300 providers in Queens using
the system and, over the next year, HHC Connectx is aiming to rollout the
application to over 200 providers. For more information on HHCAdvantage, please
