Strawberry Iced Tea
Serving Size: 1 cup (without ice), makes 10 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries, cleaned, hulled, and halved
  • 2 tablespoon sugar or 2 tsp. Splenda
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Pinch salt*
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 6 decaffeinated regular-size tea bags
  • 6 cups water

Additional sweetener to taste*
Lemon wedges for garnish

*Nutritional analysis does not include pinch of salt or additional sweetener.

Directions

  1. Add the strawberries, sugar or Splenda, lemon juice, and salt to a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a container, and refrigerate until needed.
  2. In a saucepan, bring the 2 1/4 cups of water to a boil. Add the tea bags, remove from the heat, cover, and steep for 15 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bags without squeezing them, and pour the tea into a large container. Add the 6 cups of cold water, and let stand at room temperature until cool. Do not put hot tea in the refrigerator to cool down, as this will cause the tea to cloud. Add the strawberry puree to the tea.
  4. Serve the tea over ice, stir in additional sweetener if desired, and garnish with lemon.
