About Transportation Task Force

In the Mayor’s State of the City Address on Staten Island January 26, 2006 he asked Transportation Commissioner Iris Weinshall and City Planning Chair Amanda Burden to report back to the task force in 60 days with a package of initiatives designed to address Staten Island’s growing congestion. In the weeks following, the Transportation Task Force was created and consists of elected officials, City agencies, State transportation agencies, Community Board chairs and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce.

At the 60 day announcement March 27, 2006, a short term action plan, and medium and long term recommendations were presented to address transportation issues focusing on development patterns, roadways and highways, bridges and mass transit. The task force will continue to meet and provide regular updates.
