Since 1981 The Women's Therapy Centre Institute (WTCI) has been in the forefront of understanding girls' and women's relationship to food and their bodies. The WTCI trains psychotherapists and offers workshops, groups and lectures for the public, including an annual public Speak Out. See wtci-nyc.org for a list of programs. Endangered Bodies is the public, activist organization of the WTCI.

The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media is the only research-based organization working within the media and entertainment industry to engage, educate, and influence the need for gender balance, reducing stereotyping and creating a wide variety of female characters for entertainment targeting children 11 and under.
Girls Inc. New York City
Girls Inc. New York City advocates for and improves the lives of under-served girls aged 6 to18 in the five boroughs. It pursues this mission by providing gender-based educational programs in the areas of math, science, health and safety, financial literacy, and multicultural appreciation directly or in partnership with other organizations. As an independent affiliate of the Girls Inc. national organization, their commitment is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold!
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run NYC inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running at schools and after-school programs. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade that teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
ComuniLife’s Life is Precious™ Program
Comunilife’s unique Life is Precious™ program prevents suicide in young Latinas – the teen population with the highest rate of suicide attempt in the country. Life is Precious™ combines individual and group counseling, arts therapy, academic support, and nutritional and fitness activities. Psychiatric services are provided by partnering clinics. The Latino Youth Suicide Prevention Training Center, located in the Bronx, trains community social service and medical providers to identify early suicidal indicators, teach culturally-competent, evidence-based practices, as well as the aftercare required following a suicide attempt.
Lower Eastside Girls Club
Through an ever changing and age-appropriate menu of activities and workshops in the arts, science, and technology, health and wellness, literacy, world of work and civic engagement, it help girls discover what their individual skills and passions are, and then works with them to develop these interests to their full potential.
SPARK Movement is an intergenerational, girl-fueled activist movement that works to push back against the sexualization of girls and support the development of girls' healthy sexuality and self-esteem.
The Girls Leadership Institute
The Girls Leadership Institute inspires girls to be true to themselves. They teach the practices of emotional intelligence, assertive self-expression and healthy relationships, giving girls the skills and confidence to live as leaders.

The Renfrew Center
The Renfrew Center has been a pioneer in the treatment of eating disorders since 1985. As the nation’s first residential eating disorder facility, now with 12 locations throughout the country, Renfrew has helped more than 65,000 women with eating disorders and other behavioral health issues.
Renfrew provides women suffering from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS) and related mental health problems, with the tools they need to succeed — in recovery and in life. Offering a warm, nurturing environment, Renfrew emphasizes a respect for the unique psychology of women, the importance of a collaborative therapeutic relationship and the belief that every woman needs to actively participate in her own growth and recovery.
