Christina - Set Decorator

Christina discovered her passion for interiors while watching the 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” It was during one episode, where Rhoda revamped Mr. Grant’s apartment into a super modern all white space, that Christina realized she wanted to pursue a career in interior design. “It was meant to be funny, but I thought what the set decorator had created was fantastic. That was the first time I said, ‘Wow, I want to do that.’” That defining moment led Christina, beginning in 1991, to work on numerous feature films and land the enviable position as Assistant Set Decorator for the “Sex & the City” series. For the past five years she has held the role of Set Decorator for the hit TV show “Gossip Girl.” She also runs her own company, Christina Tonkin Interiors, which concentrates primarily on residential and commercial design. Christina resides on the Upper East Side. She is the youngest of five children, a proud member of The Motion Pictures Stage Hands Union-Local 52 and an equally proud Italian/Irish girl from Astoria, Queens. "I live some people’s dreams, and I feel very blessed to work in the New York film industry and live in the greatest city on the planet".
