“Made in NY” Productions Are in the ‘House’ This Month

October 6, 2014 - Infidelity, second chances, mysteries and unusual babysitters abound in the latest crop of “Made in NY” films and TV shows set to premiere in October.

On television, “The Affair” follows two people who find themselves immediately drawn to each other, putting their marriages in jeopardy. The Showtime series stars Dominic West and Ruth Wilson and premieres on Sunday, October 12 at 10pm.

The second season of Amazon’s “Alpha House” will be available to stream beginning Friday, October 24. John Goodman and Mark Consuelos return as Senate Republicans sharing a house in Washington, D.C. and running for re-election.

“Elementary” is back for a third season as Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) continue their consulting detective work with the NYPD. New episodes premiere Thursday, October 30 at 10pm on CBS.

In movie theatres, the dark comedy Birdman stars Michael Keaton as a former action star who mounts a Broadway production in a last ditch effort to revive his career. The film, which also stars Naomi Watts and Edward Norton, opens in limited release on October 17.

Keanu Reeves stars in John Wick as a former hit man who’s pulled back into his old line of work when a contract is placed on his life. The film opens on October 24.

When a mother and her young son move next door, a misanthropic war veteran finds himself taking on babysitting duties to questionable results in St. Vincent. Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy and Naomi Watts lead the cast; the film opens October 24.
