Two “Made in NY” Shows To Premiere This Summer

July 1, 2013 - This summer, audiences can look forward to the debut of “Orange Is the New Black” and a new season of “Unforgettable,” two very different shows that were made right here in New York.

“Orange Is the New Black” is a new comedy-drama based on the best-selling memoir by Piper Kerman and co-created, written and produced by Jenji Kohan. The series follows Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), who is sentenced to a year in a federal women’s penitentiary because of her relationship with drug-runner. She is then forced to navigate a new and perplexing culture behind bars while at the same time keeping her old life afloat. “Orange is the New Black” will premiere Thursday, July 11 exclusively on Netflix.

“Unforgettable,” whose first season ran in 2011, returns with a brand new season this month. The crime-drama centers on Queens police detective Carrie Wells, played by Poppy Montgomery, who has a rare medical condition that gives her a near-perfect memory. “Unforgettable” begins its new season on Sunday, July 28 at 9pm on CBS.
