New York Celebrates 36th Year of Nation’s Oldest Asian Film Festival

July 1, 2013 - The month of July will see an international film festival in the City, giving New Yorkers a taste of Asian cinema.

The Asian American International Film Festival (AAIFF), taking place from July 24 to August 3, is now in its 36th year, making it the oldest Asian film festival in the United States. The festival will hold screenings in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens that will showcase Asian filmmakers from throughout the world. In the past, the festival has helped stars in Asian cinema such as Ang Lee reach diverse audiences and gain recognition from the film community at large. The festival will open on July 24 with Linsanity, a feature documentary about Jeremy Lin, the sensational Asian American point guard who until recently played for the Knicks.
