Autumn Ushers in an Array of Flavorful Festivals

October 1, 2012 - It’s an October of multiple themes, as film festivals and cultural events bring the best from around the world to New York City. From the Indian Diaspora and tasty food films to the celebration of Latin media, this month’s festivals highlight the diversity of the NYC film culture.

Latin Media and Entertainment Week
Latin Media and Entertainment Week is a celebration of the Latin media industry in New York City. An initiative of the Latin Media and Entertainment Commission, the week includes a number business to business and public facing events aimed towards recognizing and celebrating Latin Media and Entertainment in NYC. These events include:
- The LMEC LatinVision IAB Conference on October 4th, with thematic panels featuring the best minds in Latin Media, Entertainment, Advertising and Technology markets.
- The HOLA Awards on October 8th, which honors the achievements of Latino actors and actresses.
- Unete Con Video IAB Multicultural Agency Day, a discussion focusing on educating brand marketers, agencies and audience developers on the benefit of advertising through digital video on Spanish Language media digital platforms.
- "The Americas" at SUNY Empire State college, a multimedia art exhibit showcasing the work of current students.

The Manhattan Short Film Festival
Continuing until October 7, the Manhattan Short Film Festival seeks to unite viewers across the seven continents in cinemas, galleries, universities and museums to see and vote on the spellbinding films that are a part of the Finalists’ Films competition. The spirit of the festival is fueled by the mantra, One World One Week One Festival. More information is available at manhattanshort.com.

The NYC Food and Film Festival
Guests are sure to receive a savory experience at the sixth annual NYC Food Film Festival, the only festival in the world where audiences get to taste what they see on screen. Slated to run from October 17–21, attendees will be served the same food, winery and cocktails featured in the films at the festival. Fordham Law’s Forum Film Festival
The seventh annual Forum Film Festival at Fordham Law School will take place from October 19–25. The six night festival will showcase current blockbusters, classic favorites, documentaries and independent films featuring legal themes. South Asian International Film Festival
The South Asian International Film Festival runs from October 24–30. The landmark festival aims to expose new voices and commemorate well-known ones by showcasing films and documentaries from South Asia and the Indian Diaspora at various screening locations in New York City.
