"Made in NY" Films 'Walk' into the Theatres This Month

Red Hook Summer August 1, 2012 - A mix of independent and studio films make their way to local theatres in August.

Julie Delpy’s comedy 2 Days in New York, which she wrote, directed and stars in, follows the character she first played in 2 Days in Paris as she settles into her life in the City with her boyfriend and their children from previous relationships. The film also stars Chris Rock and opens in theatres on August 10.

Red Hook Summer, Spike Lee’s latest film, follows a young boy from Atlanta who spends a summer in Brooklyn with his grandfather, a man he has never met and who is a bishop in a local church. The film stars Clarke Peters and newcomer and local New Yorker Jules Brown. The film opens in the City on August 10.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as a bike messenger in Premium Rush, who must traverse the City in an attempt to elude his pursuers and deliver a mysterious package. Directed and written by David Koepp, the film opens on August 24.

Sleepwalk with Me tells the story of a man struggling to become a stand-up comedian and commit to his long-term girlfriend as his problems manifest themselves in bouts of sleepwalking. Mike Birbiglia stars, co-directed and co-wrote the script. The film opens in the City on August 24.
