The New York Musical Theatre Festival Returns this Summer to Bring New Voices to a New Audience

NYMF July 2, 2012 - This year’s New York Musical Theatre Festival continues to build on the legacy it first started nine years, featuring twenty full-length musicals. The festival runs from July 9-29.

Since its inception in 2004, the New York Musical Theatre Festival has premiered more than 300 new musicals – more than 75 of which have gone on to award-winning productions in New York, in regional theaters and in almost every state and in 16 countries worldwide. NYMF alum Next to Normal won three Tony Awards in 2009 and was awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize. The Broadway production of NYMF alum [title of show] earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical.

”As we enter into our ninth festival, we couldn’t be more excited with the diversity of this year’s festival offerings,” said Isaac Robert Hurwitz, NYMF’s executive director and producer. “We received a record number of submissions this year and are confident that there is something for everyone. As the festival grows and expands, we are thrilled and grateful that our audience has as well.”
