Take a 'Staycation' in the City with Different Festivals

June 5, 2012 - A variety of festivals featuring films, performances, music and travel will take place throughout the City this month while another festival seeks entries.

Brooklyn Film Festival
This year’s Brooklyn Film Festival competitive event will run through June 10 at indieScreen and Brooklyn Heights Cinema. The festival will present 104 films from 29 different countries, including 28 world premieres. These films were selected from over 2,000 submissions coming from 111 countries. TeatroStageFest
The 2012 TeatroStageFest takes place through June 25 and celebrates the Latino theatrical scene in New York City. The festival will include diverse Latino theatre productions, staged readings, talkbacks, family shows and workshops. For a full schedule visit, teatrostagefest.org.

NY Funny Songs Fest
The NY Funny Songs Fest is a four day comedy music event, taking place June 7-10 in the Lower East Side. The comedy music festival will feature over 50 comedic musicians, musical comedians and funny song singers. To learn more, visit nyfunnysongs.com.

Northside Festival
Now in its fourth year, the Northside Festival, the music and emerging culture festival, features the next generation of artists, innovators and problem-solvers, all within the walkable radius of Williamsburg and Greenpoint. Nomading Film Festival
The Nomading Film Festival is a unique celebration that caters to travelers who film and filmmakers who travel, showcasing entertaining, educating and authentic films created while traveling. New York Asian Film Festival

Brooklyn Girl Film Festival: Call for Entries
The early bird deadline for submissions to the Brooklyn Girl Film Festival ends August 4, 2012. The festival seeks films that have a woman in a key position (writer, director, producer, cinematographer or animator). All genres will be considered, including music video.
