Broadway Takes a 'Leap' in April

Boston April Broadway Openings April 2, 2012 - Broadway gallops into April as a collection of plays and a new musical take center stage.

Four-time Tony nominee Raúl Esparza headlines Leap of Faith, the new musical based on the Steve Martin film. Esparza stars as a con-artist/preacher who brings his traveling ministry to a small town. Previews begin on April 3 at the St. James Theatre.

The classic Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire returns to Broadway with an all-star cast that includes Blair Underwood, Nicole Ari Parker, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Wood Harris. Performances start at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 3.

From David Auburn, the writer of the Pultizer Prize-winning Proof, comes his new play The Columnist. John Lithgow stars as Joseph Alsop who engages in a political and personal drama in the 1960s. Previews begin at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 4.

The Lyons stars Linda Lavin in a comedic turn as a matriarch grappling with a husband on his death bed and a family that barely functions as one. Previews begin on April 5 at the Cort Theatre.

James Corden leads the British cast in the West End transfer of One Man, Two Guvnors. Corden plays a man trying to keep his two employers and their various disguises and misadventures straight. Previews begin at the Music Box Theatre on April 6.
