January 3, 2012 - This month, Broadway will welcome a new production and say goodbye to several shows.
Cynthia Nixon will star in Wit as a brilliant and brutally demanding English professor who is diagnosed with late-stage cancer. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play begins previews on January 5 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
A few Broadway productions are ending their run in January so this is the last chance to see them. On January 8, Billy Elliot will take its final bow, and An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin ends on January 13. The Mountaintop, starring Samuel L. Jackson, and Stephen Sondheim’s Follies will both present their final performances on January 22.
Daniel Radcliffe also bids farewell to Broadway this month. From January 3-22, “Glee” star Darren Criss will take over the lead role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, followed by Nick Jonas starting January 24.
