Producers, Writers Guilds Announce Award Nominations

December 7, 2011 - Awards season is underway as the Producers Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America unveil this year’s nominees, which include several “Made in NY” productions.

From the PGA, HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and CBS’ “The Good Wife” have been nominated for the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama. “30 Rock,” which returns to NBC in January, was nominated for the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Comedy. Nominations for Outstanding Producer of Live Entertainment and Talk Television went to “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” and the 64th Annual Tony Awards, which aired on CBS.

The PGA Awards will be handed out on January 21, 2012.

The Writers Guild of America has picked the writers of “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Good Wife” as nominees for Drama Series. Two episodes of “Boardwalk Empire” – A Dangerous Mind by Itamar Moses and The Age of Reason by Bathsheba Doran – were nominated for Episodic Drama. HBO’s miniseries “Mildred Pierce” and “Too Big to Fail” were nominated in Long Form – Adapted category.

In comedy, FX’s “Louie” as well as “30 Rock” are among the nominees for Comedy Series. The individual episode from “30 Rock,” entitled Queen of Jordan and written by Tracey Wigfield was also nominated. The writing staffs of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Colbert Report,” and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” were nominated for Comedy/Variety Series.

The 2012 Writers Guild Awards ceremony will take place on February 19.
