October 3, 2011 - Running until October 16, the New York Musical Theatre Festival lights up the City with dozens of new musicals, readings and special events. Now in its eighth year, the festival showcases a tantalizing array of productions – from a rock musical about Billy the Kid (Outlaws) to a concert starring The Broadway Dolls (Tour de Fierce).
Since its inception in 2004, the New York Musical Theatre Festival has premiered more than 250 new musicals – more than 70 of which have gone on to award-winning productions in New York, in regional theatres and in 16 countries worldwide. Notable NYMF alums include the Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal and the off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz.
