New Yorkers Can Enjoy Free Outdoor Screenings All Summer Long

July 1, 2011 - New York summer evenings are meant to be enjoyed outside. The following is a sample of various free outdoor screenings happening all throughout the City:

2011 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival
Date: Mondays, until August 22
Location: Bryant Park
Time: Lawn opens at 5pm, film begins at sunset
Movies Shown: Easy Rider, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, In the Heat of the Night, The Lady Eve, Cool Hand Luke, Airplane!, High Sierra, Dirty Harry

Twilights @ Tavern
Date: July 13, July 27, August 10, August 17
Time: dusk
Location: Tavern on the Green, Central Park
Movies/TV Series Shown: Mad Hot Ballroom, Food.Curated, Appetite City, Carol Channing: Large than Life
NYC Parks and the Central Park Conservancy have teamed up with the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and IFP for free screenings of “Made in NY” independent films and TV series from NYC Media, the official network of the City of New York. Representatives from the films and shows will address the audience before each screening.

Intrepid Summer Movie Series
Date: June 24, July 8, July 22, August 5, August 19
Time: doors open at 7:30pm, film begins at sunset
Location: The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum at Pier 86
Movies Shown: Top Gun, The Goonies, Spiderman, Back to the Future, ET The Extra-terrestrial

Movies with a View
Date
: Thursdays, until September 1
Time: 6pm, film begins around sunset
Location: Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Harbor View Lawn
Movies Shown: Manhattan, Ghostbusters, Sweet Smell of Success, Basquiat, An American Tail, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Crooklyn, Rosemary's Baby

Outdoor Summer Movie Series at Firefighters’ Field, Roosevelt Island
Date: Saturday, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3
