Film Festivals Examine Cultural and Social Issues in May

May 2, 2011 - Upcoming film festivals happening in New York City this month will take a closer look at films from around the world.

New York Indian Film Festival
The 11th annual New York Indian Film Festival, presented by the Indo-American Arts Council, takes place May 4-8. This year, the festival has announced three partnerships with film schools in New York and India that help emerging filmmakers. For a complete schedule, visit iaac.us/NYIFF2011.

Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival
Taking place May 13-14 at Tribeca Cinemas, the 8th annual Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival features contemporary films that feature Bosnia and Herzegovina as their theme. The festival provides a platform for up-and-coming and internationally-renowned filmmakers. For additional information, visit bhffnyc.org.

NYC Mental Health Film Festival
The NYC Mental Health Film Festival aims to explore the stigmas facing people with psychiatric disabilities through original films and live discussion.
