Broadway is Full of New 'People' This Month

April 1, 2011 - The Broadway season will soon end in anticipation of the upcoming Tony Awards as several productions begin previews this month.

The People in the Picture is a new musical about a grandmother, played by Donna Murphy, who shares tales from her past as an actress in Poland. The cast also includes Alexander Gemignani and Chip Zien. Performances begin April 1 at Studio 54.

Tony and Olivier Award-winning Mark Rylance stars in Jerusalem, reprising the role he originated in the London production. Rylance plays a wanted man facing eviction as he deals with his neglected son and a band of friends in search of drugs and alcohol. Previews begin April 2 at the Music Box Theatre.

Ben Stiller stars in the Broadway revival of The House of Blue Leaves. This dark comedy follows a zookeeper from Queens who wants to be a songwriter as he struggles with a schizophrenic wife, a demanding girlfriend and an impending visit from the Pope. Performances start April 4 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
