Film Festivals Showcase Diversity and Culture in February

February 4, 2011 - Throughout February, local film festivals will celebrate some of the diverse cultures and people that help to make New York City unique.

Reelabilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival
Reelabilities celebrates those with different disabilities by promoting awareness and appreciation of their lives, stories and artistic expressions. Presenting award winning films in various locations and venues throughout the NY metropolitan area, this festival brings communities together through discussion and various engaging programs. Athena Film Festival
Produced by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Woman and Hollywood, the Athena Film Festival is a "celebration of women's leadership" opening on Thursday, February 10. Approximately twenty films will be screened during the festival, followed by an open discussion with actors, directors, writers and producers on the Barnard campus in Morningside Heights.
