Free Screening and Discussion of HBO Drama "Boardwalk Empire" Will Take Place on Monday, September 27

September 22, 2010 - On Monday, September 27, 2010, the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, part of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, and the Center for Communication will present Designing an Era: “Boardwalk Empire”—a free screening of the new HBO drama followed by a discussion with members of the show’s creative and design team. The screening, which is open to the public, will take place at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus at the Kumble Theater (Flatbush Avenue, DeKalb and Willoughby). The screening begins at 6pm; pre-registration is required.

“Boardwalk Empire” is a new epic television series that is shot on location in New York City. Airing Sunday nights at 9pm on HBO, the “Made in NY” show stars Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Kelly MacDonald and Michael K. Williams.

In addition to a screening of the show’s second episode, Designing an Era: “Boardwalk Empire” will feature members of the show’s creative team who will discuss their role working on the series and how they capture the feel of Prohibition Era Atlantic City—through make-up, artists, set design, and costumes.

The screening begins at 6pm. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The screening and discussion is free and open to the public, but you must pre-register before September 27. Pre-register by visiting: http://www.cencom.org/programDetail.aspx?id=4412. The event will take place at the Kumble Theatre of LIU’s Brooklyn Campus (Flatbush Avenue, DeKalb and Willoughby).
