Free Screening and Discussion of HBO Drama "Boardwalk Empire" Will Take Place on Monday, September 27
September 22, 2010 - On Monday, September 27, 2010, the
Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, part of the Mayor’s Office of Media
and Entertainment, and the Center for Communication will present
Designing an Era: “Boardwalk Empire”—a free screening of the
new HBO drama followed by a discussion with members of the show’s creative and
design team. The screening, which is open to the public, will take place at Long
Island University’s Brooklyn Campus at the Kumble Theater (Flatbush Avenue,
DeKalb and Willoughby). The screening begins at 6pm; pre-registration is
required.
“Boardwalk Empire” is a new epic television series that is shot
on location in New York City. Airing Sunday nights at 9pm on HBO, the “Made in
NY” show stars Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Kelly MacDonald and Michael K.
Williams.
In addition to a screening of the show’s second episode,
Designing an Era: “Boardwalk Empire” will feature members of
the show’s creative team who will discuss their role working on the series and
how they capture the feel of Prohibition Era Atlantic City—through make-up,
artists, set design, and costumes.
The screening begins at 6pm. Seating
is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. The screening and
discussion is free and open to the public, but you must pre-register before
