July 8, 2010 - Throughout July, several “Made in NY” films will make their way into theatres.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice tells the tale of Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage), a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan who hires a new recruit, the young Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel). The two train and work together to defeat Blake’s arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). The film, directed by Jon Turteltaub and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, opens July 14.

Angelina Jolie stars in Salt, opening July 23. When CIA officer Evelyn Salt is accused of being a Russian spy, she goes on the run. The film is written by Kurt Wimmer and directed by Phillip Noyce.

Twelve, opening July 30, stars Chance Crawford, Emma Roberts, Kiefer Sutherland, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Based on the novel by Nick McDonell and directed by Joel Schumacher, Twelve delves into the world of a high school drop-out from the Upper East Side, who sells marijuana to his spoiled friends until the reality of his actions catches up with him.

Kevin Kline stars in The Extra Man as an older playwright-turned-“extra man,” or social escort, who mentors his new roommate, played by Paul Dano. Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly co-star in the adaptation of the Jonathan Ames novel, directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. The film opens in limited release on July 30.
