Digital and the City: Internet Week 2010 Kicks Off June 7
June 2, 2010 - Internet Week is back! Starting on June 7, New York City will celebrate the City’s Internet and digital community with a week-long festival featuring conferences, panels, and parties with tech experts and pioneers in social media and Web 2.0. Internet Week New York is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the City of New York and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting.
Events of Internet Week range from Advertising and Arts & Entertainment to Social Media and Startups & Technology. Sponsors of Internet Week, including the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting, will be set up in pods at the Metropolitan Pavilion, Internet Week HQ, offering more information on upcoming events and projects.
Here are just a few of the various events that Internet mavens and marketing professionals can attend:
Internet Week will start out strong on Monday, June 7 with the HP@IWNY Kick-Off Event, a conference about how to use web to the fullest extent. That same day, Microsoft will have the worldwide launch of Expression Studio 4, a design tool for Web, desktop, mobile devices, and Silverlight.
The CM (Conversational Marketing) Summit will discuss new innovations in technology and marketing in real time, taking place June 7 and 8. An interesting seminar is the Intelligent Selling of Interactive Advertising. This three day seminar will help businesses with advanced digital sales strategies and techniques.
On Tuesday, June 8, conferences entitled Intelligent Planning & Buying of Interactive Media, mastering Twitter, and Social Networking of Business will take place. The AICP will debut the screening and reception of the 19th Annual AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Commercial, at MoMA, showcasing the best commercials.
Wednesday, June 9 has a variety of interesting conferences to explore. These include the MMA Mobile Marketing Forum, Green Tourism, Social Climbing, Socialization of Film, and How to Build and Manage a Digital Agency or Division. From 6:30 to 8, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, the NYC Chapter of the International Game Developers Association and SuperData Research will present the conference Made in NY: Social Games and Branding, which will explore using Social Gaming as a promotional tool.
Thursday, June 10 features many day-long conferences on Intelligent Research, Measurement & Analytics, Intelligent Search Engine Marketing for Professionals, and Creativity and Technology. Joining Internet Week on June 10 is Obliterati, a monthly event intended to encourage networking between those who work in old and new media, public relations and web 2.0. IAC and CollegeHumor will host a launch event for dumbdumb, a new digital-driven production company.
Internet Week culminates on June 14 with the Webby Awards, honoring interactive design, creativity, usability and functionality on the Internet. This event, which honors websites, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile content, will be hosted by actor B.J. Novak (“The Office”).
