Teachers Gather for Blueprint: The Moving Image during Tribeca Film Festival
May 10, 2010 - On April 30, a group of roughly fifty DOE educators and cultural partners gathered at Borough of Manhattan Community College in Manhattan during the Tribeca Film Festival to participate in a professional development session for the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts: The Moving Image.
Developed in collaboration between the DOE, MOFTB, and the Tribeca Film Institute, the Blueprint is an innovative guide that outlines clear expectations for the study of film, television, and animation from early elementary school through high school.
This event marked the third gathering following the launch of the resource on October 15, 2009 at the Museum of Modern Art. A previous professional development session took place on January 26, 2010 at Museum of the Moving Image.
Educators participated in a day-long series of workshops examining the Blueprint through a single strand of learning: Careers and Lifelong Learning. Participants were given the opportunity to meet professionals and learn about their roles in the film and television production industry, attend the Tribeca Film Institute’s annual youth screening event, Our City, My Story and participate in hands-on moving image activities. An additional professional development day will take place in the fall of 2010 focusing on Community and Cultural Resources.
