Broadway Swings for the 'Fences' in April

April 1, 2010 - As the Broadway season soon comes to a close, several shows, including dramas, revivals and a musical, begin previews in April.

Collected Stories, a drama starring Linda Lavin and Sarah Paulson, starts performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 9. The play explores the dynamic between an acclaimed author and the young writer she mentors.

Combining images, music, dance and video, Enron is a production about the notorious collapse of the Texas energy company and offers new insight into the current economy. Performances begin on April 8 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Denzel Washington stars in the first Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Fences, a drama about the hardships of a former Negro Leagues player in 1950s Pittsburgh. Previews for Fences start on April 14 at the Cort Theatre.

The revival of La Cage aux Folles stars Douglas Hodge and Kelsey Grammer as a gay couple pretending to be straight in order to trick a conservative politician. Performances of the musical transfer from London begin on April 6 at the Longacre Theatre.

Sherie Rene Scott stars in Everday Rapture, which begins performances on April 19 at the American Airlines Theater. Directed by Michael Mayer, the production features songs made famous by U2, Judy Garland, and Mister Rogers, among others.
