"Made in NY" Films Nominated for This Year's Oscars

February 10, 2010 - Nominations for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards have been announced. These “Made in NY” films are among the nominees:

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire received several nominations including Best Picture, Actress in a Leading Role (Gabourey Sidibe), Actress in a Supporting Role (Mo’Nique), Director (Lee Daniels), Adapted Screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher), and Film Editing (Joe Klotz).

Meryl Streep has earned her sixteenth Oscar nomination for her role in Julie & Julia as the famous chef Julia Child before she became famous.

Sherlock Holmes picked up two nominations – Art Direction (Art Direction: Sarah Greenwood/Set Decoration: Katie Spencer) and Original Score (Hans Zimmer).

China's Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province, a Downtown Community Television Center production by Jon Alpert and Matthew O’Neill, was nominated for Best Documentary Short.
