Tune In: "Made in NY" Shows Premiere in September

September 1, 2009 - The New York Television Festival is back with an exciting slate of programming this September. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the annual independent television showcase will take place in midtown Manhattan from September 21-26.

The NYTVF gives independent television producers and creators the chance to present their work directly to executives at broadcast networks, cable networks, and online content providers while at the same time allowing fans first hand access to the newest television of the season.

As part of its programming, the NYTVF will feature 37 original television pilots taking part in the Independent Pilot Competition. Submitted by independent producers around the world, the pilots will be presented for industry execs and TV fans alike. The full pilots will be available to view online at MSN Video starting the week after the Festival; previews are available now on NYTVF's YouTube channel.

Additionally, popular pilots from previous competitions will air on NYC TV Channel 25 at 9pm beginning September 14. Among the pilots to be screened: “Red Hook High” (created by Trac Minh Vu), an ensemble series that explores the lives of students, teachers and families of an alternative high school in Red Hook; and “Living in Captivity” (created by Erica Jensen, Uma Incrocci, and Nicole Greevey), which chronicles a novice zookeeper left in charge for a day and her disgruntled co-workers who plot to sabotage her leadership.

The 2009 NYTVF will continue its tradition of hosting star-studded red-carpet premieres of new network shows as part of its “Prime Time” event series. This year’s programming will highlight some of the hottest topics and trends facing both television and Web video. Successful past NYTVF events returning in 2009 include Digital Day, an Internet-centric entertainment symposium; and Industry Day, an annual panel discussion series addressing all sides of the television and digital video industries.
