New York City Housing Authority Launches Site to Assist Productions

May 1, 2009 - The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) has launched a new TV, film and photography website to aid production companies that are looking for the perfect New York City location to shoot their next feature film or to set up a holding area for cast and crew.

NYCHA has many outstanding locations, including interiors of NYCHA residential buildings; community facilities and modern playgrounds; courtyards, tree-lined walkways, beautiful gardens, and much more. A number of NYCHA high-rise residential buildings also provide picturesque views of the Manhattan skyline, the renowned Brooklyn Bridge, other East River bridges, and New York City’s harbor.

NYCHA welcomes independent filmmakers, photographers and production companies to visit the website at http://www.nyc.gov/nychafilm to preview sample locations, learn about NYCHA’s film approval process, and review Frequently Asked Questions.

As a reminder, while a permit from the MOFTB is needed to shoot at a NYCHA property, NYCHA is a federally operated facility.
