Curtain Call: Celebrating 125 Years of The Actors Fund

November 5, 2008 - Chronicling the fascinating history of The Actors Fund's fabled history, a new book entitled Curtain Call: 125 Years of The Actors Fund has just been published.

Curtain Call is a colorful history of the only national nonprofit human services organization that provides aid nationally to those on stage, on camera and behind the scenes in performing arts and entertainment. Beginning with The Fund’s creation in 1882 through the unveiling of its newest housing project, Schermerhorn House, Curtain Call gives a look into the stars, events and projects that shaped The Fund’s 125 years, which includes some of the biggest and most intriguing names in New York arts.

The Actors Fund is a nonprofit, national human services organization that helps close to 10,000 people every year from across the country. With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Fund supports everyone who works in performing arts and entertainment – on stage or screen or behind the scenes – through a wide array of programs in social and health services, employment and training, emergency financial assistance, insurance and housing needs, and assisted living and nursing care residences.
