New Qualified Production Facility in Long Island City

October 2, 2008 - Long Island City is the home to the latest qualified production facility - Standard Motors Product Building. The building, which was recently purchased by Jeff Rosenblum, is currently home to the NBC Universal pilot “Royal Pains.” A production must shoot in a qualified production facility to be eligible for the “Made in NY” incentive program.

The seven story building which takes up 500 feet of a block on Steinway Street was built in the early 1900s, and auto parts were manufactured there for the last fifty years. When Rosenblum bought the building earlier this year, one of his first thoughts was where to put the production facilities.

Currently 43,000 square feet are available for productions with sections set aside for offices. The space also offers high ceilings, unlimited floor loads, heavy power feeds, a cafeteria, and a new lobby. “As needs come in, we’ll add to it,” said Rosenblum. Two floors will eventually be set aside and devoted exclusively to production work.

The building is also the home to various creative tenants. Rosenblum likes to create an artistic community in his buildings, welcoming sculptors, painters, designers, dance troupes, and musical engineers in the space.

With a Long Island City zip code and three blocks away from Astoria, the Standard Motors Product Building is in the perfect location to attract production business.
