August 1, 2008 - The five boroughs share the spotlight at this summer’s 6th Annual Central Park Film Festival as the Central Park Conservancy celebrates a hundred years of filmmaking in the Park. The festival consists of free nightly screenings under the stars from Tuesday, August 19 - Saturday, August 23 at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield.

Staten Island will appear on the big screen in the Mike Nichols favorite Working Girl (August 19). The gritty police drama The French Connection follows two New York City cops from the Bronx (August 20). Adding intrigue in Queens is the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Strangers on a Train (August 21). Brooklyn is the backdrop for the romantic comedy Moonstruck (August 22), and Manhattan plays hero in the modern-day family fairy tale August Rush (August 23).

All screenings are free, start at 8:00 pm, and are held rain or shine. Gates open at 6:00 pm. Festival sponsor Bloomberg L.P. will provide free gourmet popcorn for all. To find Rumsey Playfield, enter the Park at Fifth Avenue and 69th Street.
