Digital Media: Silicon Alley Insider

February 1, 2008 - The way the entertainment industry produces and distributes content is rapidly changing as technology advances. Silicon Alley Insider offers New Yorkers an online destination where they can keep up on the latest innovations and deals happening in the city.

Silicon Alley Insider (SAI) is a business site produced by and for New York City’s digital business community. It launched in July of 2007, covering the intersection of the technology, media, and communications industries, with a focus on companies and people making waves in our City. Silicon Alley Insider provides news about digital publishing, entertainment, music, social networking, mobile, and gaming.

Mayor Bloomberg recently topped SAI ’s “Silicon Alley 100,” the annual list of the most influential folks in New York City’s digital business, for his entrepreneurship and his “raw competence as a visionary, manager, leader, and communicator.” The Mayor joins other notable New Yorkers like Barry Diller (IAC), Scott Heiferman (Meetup) and Jim Cramer ("Mad Money").

Launching this month is SAI ’s next anticipated list, “SAI 25: The World’s Most Promising Digital Startups,” which crosses New York borders and enters the global digital realm, compiling a list of twenty-five startups that show the greatest potential of becoming the most valuable digital businesses.

Silicon Alley Insider also serves as an online community, where individuals can participate by submitting story ideas, posting comments, or joining the “Community Twitter” room, giving New Yorkers the chance to let their digital voices be heard.
